Our Hand Made Silver Tipped Badger Shaving Brush Heads come in two grades and in three sizes. We highly recommend using a product from Crabtree & Evelyn, It's called Sweet Almond Oil Shaving Cream, in a 5.8/oz tub and also in a round hard bar for a Mug. I have been using the Sweet Almond Oil Shaving Cream for the past 26 years now and my wife says I still have a soft baby face! sizes of each brush head is: The blank can be either drilled in a self centering jig on a drill press or on the lathe using a self centering three, or four jaw chuck with the drill bit in a drill chuck with a MT 1, or 2 what ever you have to do the job the way you like it. I suggest you decide on a design and make a few on single side shapes on paper. Using a mirror to see how it will look with it's other side. I use the KISS formula, Keep It Simple Stupid to make some of my best designs yet! My favorite way to make the Shaving Brush Heads is to chuck up a square and turn it down between centers to a dowel that is oversized. You can either use a screw church with a MT on it or a face plate with a screw chuck or a self centering three, or four jaw chuck. I turn down some hard rock Maple to just fit the size of the drilled hole in the blank. After that I take the skew and make some tiny cuts about 1/32" deep every 5/64" and wet the scored wood each time I chuck up a new blank. I cut the first blank a 1/4" longer to cut and save a 1/4" at the tail stock to cut off and leave the extra wood for bringing the small cone up against the next blank. This compression pressured up against the new blank will make it easy to turn the end either round or flat because the point of the tailstock is covered with wood to cut into. Last comes the buffing and after the setting of the Brush Head with epoxy. Make sure to dry fit the Brush Head so it is at least 1/32" deeper than the plug. It seems to set and stay better with the slower curing epoxy, 30 minute to one hour works best. Mix the epoxy up and let set for 5 minutes all together before you start to use it, this helps the epoxy to start it's reaction from mixing the resin and hardener. Be careful not to put too much in the handle and on the plug. Use a tooth pick to clean off any extra epoxy and finish up with cleaning with cotton swabs, (Q-Tips) making sure to never get any epoxy on the Badger Brush at the base of the plug. Allow to set level over night to cure and use or sell! Directions to make the shaving brush handles will also come with the purchase of the brush heads. This keeps your Shaving brush completely water proof for many years of service.
